Serving the Community
We are seeking to serve our local community by showing Gods love for people in a practical way, as well as his desire to help bring change to those experiencing difficulties in life. This takes the form of various projects and events in our community.
Tower Hamlets Foodbank
Quaystone is a stakeholder church and heavily involved in this local scheme, helping address hidden hunger across the borough.
Quaystone has joined forces with Tower Hamlets Health Trainers to provide free healthy eating and fitness classes to Islanders.
CAP Money management
Quaystone regularly runs a free money management course, in association with Christians Against Poverty.
Hugely popular across the UK, the Alpha Course is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, with friendly, open discussions and free food!
Quaystone has run a dance club on the island for a number of years, which draws children from across Tower Hamlets.
On Marathon Sunday, we take the church to the streets, and help to run the water station at the 17-mile mark outside Mudchute DLR station. Every year we hand out 30,000 water bottles and doses of encouragement to thirsty runners.
Families and Children
Every year we organise events to serve families and children on the Island. Recent activities have included -
- A ‘Bright party’, an alternative event for Halloween, with a wonderful evening of games, craft and food with many local families attending.
- A Christmas craft afternoon, again at the Docklands Settlement Centre, providing fun and games for local children so that parents can finish their Christmas shopping.
We also we serve Islanders every year by offering to wrap their Christmas presents outside our local Asda the Saturday before Christmas and singing them some carols while they were waiting.
Finally, don't forget to check out the recent Isle of Dogs Big Weekend, including a photo gallery from the massive "Fun in the Park" event that we helped to organise!
