What We Believe

We Believe the Bible was fully inspired by God (2 Tim 3:16), and is the final authority in all we believe and do. Therefore, we always try to ensure that everything Quaystone does is consistent with what God has spoken to us in these Scriptures.

We Believe, love and follow the one true God, who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. If you find this idea mind-blowing – that’s because it is!

We Believe that humans were created in the image of God (Gen 1:26), and made for relationship with Him, but rebelled against Him. This rebellion is called ‘sin’, and has separated man from God ever since. The consequences of this have been catastrophic for all of us, and by our actions we have all fallen short of God’s glory (Rom 3:23). There was nothing we could do bridge the chasm between ourselves and God. But by sending His Son, Jesus, God has graciously taken the initiative to restore what was lost.

  • Jesus Christ, ‘God in the Flesh’, fully divine and yet fully human (John 1:1,14), lived a perfect, sinless life – which no-one else could – and experienced death on the Cross.
  • The Cross was necessary because sin counts to God, and also because we count enough to God to do something about it. The essence of the Cross is that Jesus has taken our place, substituting himself for us (1 John 3:16). So, despite being a cruel and undeserved death, the Cross was a turning point in History. As a result of his sacrifice, the penalty of our rebellion has been paid, our sins are forgiven, and we can once more know God and love Him.
  • As we turn to God, ask His forgiveness and put Him in charge of our lives, we can experience the miracle of spiritual ‘rebirth’ (John 3:3-8). A new life is now available to us - the full, exciting, abundant life that we were designed for!

We Believe that the Holy Spirit is the helper that Jesus promised He would send to us (John 16:7). The Spirit changes us from the inside out, guides us and gives us gifts for a fruitful life, and for growing His Church.

We Believe that the ‘baptism’, or ‘filling’ of the Spirit is a dynamic and distinct event for all believers, empowering us to become God’s witnesses (Acts 1:8). Like the first disciples, we need to regularly encounter God’s Spirit to empower, equip and encourage us.

We Believe that all believers should be baptised in water, as Jesus commanded (Mark 16:16). Baptism is a public declaration of our new life, as we symbolically “bury” our old life in a watery grave!

We Believe that God’s plan for all Christians is to be part of a local church (Heb 10:25), a loving community of people growing together, and becoming more like Jesus each day. Together, the global church has the privilege of reaching out to the world. We have a clear idea of our goals at Quaystone Church – see 'Why we are here'.

Last, but certainly not least, We Believe and look forward to the day when Jesus, who rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, will return in triumph to the earth (Acts 1:10-11), and to a church that is united and prepared for His coming. He will bring eternal life and eternal judgement, and establish a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3:5-13).
